The Board Members
Nine board members serve as the policy-setting body for the Board. Seven of the members are appointed by the Governor, one by the Senate President Pro-Tempore, and one by the Assembly Speaker. Board members include five registered nurses and four public members. The current board members are:

Nancy L. Beecham, BS, RNC
Nancy L. Beecham, BS, RNC is a consultant to long term care facilities and is certified in Gerontology. Nancy is also the Nursing Administrator/Director of nursing services at Edgemoor Hospital a 192 bed facility in Santee, California. Nancy is currently the President of the Long Term Care Nurse Council for the California Association of Health Facilities. Nancy is the immediate past National President for the Coalition of Women in Long Term Care. Previously, Nancy served as President of Retro Medical Billing, the Director of Nursing for Kennon Shea and Associates and Vice president of Operations for ProServ Rehab & Health Care.

Ann Boynton, President
Ann Boynton of Sacramento is currently the managing director at Manatt Health Solutions. Previously she served as undersecretary for the Health and Human Services Agency from 2006 to 2008. In 2005, Boynton served as chief deputy cabinet secretary in the Office of the Governor. She was previously deputy director for external affairs at the Department of Toxic Substances Control from 2004 to 2005. She has almost two decades of experience in management consulting for more than a dozen state government entities, including the California Attorney General's Office, the Department of Consumer Affairs, the California Environmental Protection Agency, and the Employment Development Department.

Judy L. Corless, BSN, RN
Judy L. Corless, BSN, RN of Corona, has served as clinical nursing director at the Corona Outpatient Surgical Center since April 2009 and previously served as a staff nurse for labor and delivery from 2007 to 2008 and staff nurse in the emergency room from 2001 to 2007 at the Corona Regional Medical Center. Prior to that, she served as executive manager and charge nurse for Joe D. Corless, M.D. from 1979 to 2001 and a staff LVN for Cummins, Kozak and Gilman from 1977 to 1979, the UCI Medical Center from 1971 to 1972 and the Santa Ana Community Hospital from 1970 to 1971.

Jeannine Graves, MPA, BSN, RN, OCN, CNOR, Vice President
Jeannine Graves, MPA, BSN, RN, OCN, CNOR of Sacramento, has served since 1995 as the Thermal Ablation Clinic Coordinator for Capitol Surgical Associates in the Sutter Cancer Center, Sacramento. She also serves as a Staff Nurse in the O.R. for Mercy San Juan Medical Center, Carmichael, a position she has held since 1997. Prior to these positions, she was the Nursing Director, Surgical Services for Sutter Memorial Hospital, Sacramento from 1989-1994. Ms. Graves has served in Surgical Services since 1979. She also promotes Surgical Oncologic Nursing care through her position at Capitol Surgical Associates, managing and educating patients with varying types of cancer.

Dian Harrison, MSW
Dian Harrison, MSW has dedicated over 30 years of public service to the non-profit sector, and is currently President and CEO of Planned Parenthood Golden Gate (PPGG).
Prior to her appointment at PPGG, Ms. Harrison held leadership roles with the United Way and the Urban League, and was also the first woman to serve as Vice President of University Relations at Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, one of the oldest historically black colleges and universities.

Erin Niemela
Erin Niemela was Chief of Staff to former President Pro Tem Don Perata. Born and raised in Richmond, California, Erin worked for Perata for 13 years. Prior to her tenure with Perata, she worked for Assembly Democratic Leader Richard Katz, Speaker Willie Brown and served as an intern to former Assemblymembers Steve Peace and Tom Bates. She is a graduate of UC San Diego. She now owns her own lobbying and consulting firm in Sacramento and has been married to her husband, Mike, for 18 years. They live in Davis and have two children, Amanda (age 8) and Olivia (age 2).

Richard Rice
Richard Rice, who resides in Imperial Beach, has most recently served as chair of the Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board from 2007 to 2008. Prior to that, Rice served as a member of the California Apprenticeship Council. Rice was undersecretary at the Labor and Workforce Development Agency from 2005 to 2006 and served as acting undersecretary and communications director from 2003 to 2005. Prior to that Rice was Deputy Director at the Department of Industrial Relations.

Catherine M. Todero, PhD, RN
Catherine M. Todero, PhD, RN of La Mesa, has served as director and a professor for the school of nursing at San Diego State University since 2006. She previously served as an associate dean for the college of nursing at the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1989 to 2006. Prior to that, Todero held several academic appointments in the colleges of nursing at the University of Nebraska and Creighton University. She has also served as an administrative director at the Family Health Care Center from 1993 to 1998 and as a staff nurse in the intensive care units for St. Joseph Hospital in Omaha, NE in 1979 and the University of Nebraska Medical Center from 1972 to 1974. She also served as a captain and staff nurse in the U.S. Army Reserve Nurse Corps from 1979 to 1983.

Kathrine M. Ware, MSN, RN, ANP-C
Kathrine Ware, MSN, RN, ANP-C of Davis, has served as a nurse practitioner for the Vascular Center Clinic at the University of California, Davis since 2006. She is a Vascular Nursing and Tobacco Treatment specialist. She previously worked as a nurse practitioner for internal medicine at the Sutter Medical Group in Sacramento from 2005 to 2006. Prior to that, Ware was a resource nurse for the Vascular Surgery service at UC Davis from 1996 to 2004 preceded by a position working as an RN in the Outpatient Surgery Clinic at UCD from 1992-1996. Prior to that she worked as a critical care RN for Kaiser Permanente Medical Center in San Diego and then Sacramento from 1987 to 1995 and worked in the Surgical ICU at the VA Medical Center in La Jolla from 1984-1987.
